The Historical and Ethnographic Museum in Chojnice fulfils its obligation under the Act of 4 April 2019 on digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities by publishing this statement.

The website www.chojnicemuzeum.pl is partially compliant with the Act on digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities.

The non-compliance is because the website was developed at a time when digital accessibility guidelines would not have been available and widely used. In this respect, the current website benefits from the exemption indicated in Art. 3 para. 8 of the Act.

The statement was drawn up on 2021.03.29 on the basis of a self-assessment by the public body.

A reply to the request/complaint should be made immediately, no later than within 7 days. If this is not possible, the entity shall inform the sender of this fact and indicate a possible time limit for a reply, which may not be longer than 2 months.

If it is not possible to provide accessibility, the entity may propose an alternative method of accessing the content.

If a request to provide accessibility or provide access to content in an alternative form is refused, a complaint may be made to the Ombudsman.

 

Architectural accessibility

 

The Historical and Ethnographic Museum in Chojnice has 8 locations. 6 of them are located in historic buildings on the medieval city walls along 3-15 Podmurna St. Due to their historic substance, the buildings of a bastion character are only partly adapted for people with disabilities. Brama Człuchowska (The Człuchowska Gate), Baszta Wronia (the Crow Tower) - the seat of the administration - and the Dom na murach (House on the Walls) - housing the factual workshops - are not adapted for the disabled due to architectural barriers. Other buildings of the Museum: Baszta Kurza Stopa (Chicken Foot Tower), Dom Szewski (Shoemaker's House) and Baszta Szewska (the Shoemaker Tower) with the Museum Library, as well as the Kolekcja Historyczno-Regionalna (Historic-Regional Collection) (5 Drzymały St.) and Archeologiczna ekspozycja zamiejscowa Kręgi Kamienne w Odrach gm. Czersk (the Archaeological Exhibition of the Stone Circles in Odry municipality Czersk) (5 Długa St.), are accessible or partially accessible for people with disabilities.

The main building of the Historical and Ethnographic Museum in Chojnice in the historic Człuchów Gate does not have a lift and is not accessible to persons with mobility disabilities in wheelchairs. The building is accessible to people with disabilities to the following extent:

  • The main entrance to the building is possible from the east side on 3 steps with a handrail.
  • In the building, the exhibitions are arranged on 5 floors. All sections of the 2-legged staircase have handrails and rest areas on the inter-floor platforms.
  • The building offers the possibility to purchase entrance tickets, and tourist information about all the Museum's facilities and the city's tourist attractions. Information about the Museum is also available on the Promotion of the Chonice Region website: www.promocja.chojnice.pl.
  • Visitors and visitors are served by the Museum staff.
  • A disabled-accessible toilet is located on the second floor.
  • The nearest car park with spaces for the disabled are Mickiewicza, Młyńska and Stary Rynek.

Baszta Kurza Stopa (The Chicken Foot Tower), 3 Podmurna Street

  • Entrance to the tower with access to part of the exhibition on the first storey from the street level after climbing one step,
  • the exhibition on the second storey (on stairs with a handrail),
  • on the ground floor, information about the Museum's other facilities, cloakroom.

 Dom na Murach (House on the Walls), 5 Podmurna Street

  • the building is not accessible to the disabled (science laboratories); information can be provided by a Museum employee after ringing the bell at the entrance to the building.

Dom Szewski (Shoemaker's House), 7 Podmurna Street

  • entrance to the tower with access to the exhibition part on the first floor from the street level,
  • on the ground floor with information about other Museum facilities.

Baszta Szewska z Biblioteką Muzealną (The Shoemaker Tower with Museum Library), 9 Podmurna Street

  • entrance to the tower from street level after climbing two steps, with the possibility of using the resources of the scientific library and bibliographical information in the reading room on the first floor.

Baszta Wronia (Crow Tower), 15 Podmurna Street

  • the seat of the administration, a historic tower, for architectural reasons accessible to people with disabilities after ringing the bell at the entrance to the building, in the visitors' room,
  • disabled toilet accessible on the ground floor.

Kolekcja Historyczno-Regionalna A. Makowskiego (A. Makowski Historical-Regional Collection), 5 Drzymały St.

  • access to the exhibition from the street level (intercom), up 5 stairs with a handrail, Museum staff assistance at the entrance,
  • access to the exhibition arranged on the first floor of the tenement house, low thresholds between the rooms,
  • information about other Museum facilities, cloakroom.
