The exhibition of Polish contemporary art in the Kurza Stopa Tower presents a significant part of the collection at the Chojnice museum since 1984. The entire collection numbers 173 objects and falls into the so-called modern classics category. The founders of the Chojnice gallery had the ambition to create a cultural and educational opportunity in a smaller environment, in the scope of Polish contemporary art, to form a nationally representative collection. The collection includes works by artists such as: Tadeusz Brzozowski, Henryk Stażewski, Jadwiga Maziarska, Erna Rosenstein, Józef Szajna, Jonasz Stern, Mieczysław Wejman, Konrad Srzednicki, Janina Kraupe-Świderska, Bronisław Chromy, Adolf Ryszka, Jerzy Panek, Jan Lebenstein, Kiejstut Bereźnicki, Jacek Gaj, Andrzej Pietsch, Stanisław Rodziński, Czesław Rzepiński, Hanna Rudzka-Cybisowa, Adam Myjak. In 2009, a separate collection was created in the Gallery's collection, based on Prof. Poradowska-Werszler's gift of five textiles by contemporary fibre artists. The Gallery's open formula means that we solicit new works for the collection, both in the form of donations and through purchases. Donors to the collection include successive generations of esteemed Polish artists, including former professors of the academy and their students. Over the nearly 40 years of the Gallery's existence, the collection has been enlarged to include works by further esteemed contemporary artists. They currently include, among others, the following: Aleksander Dętkoś, Stasys Eidrigevičius, Waldemar Świerzy, Wacław Taranczewski, Tadeusz Dominik, Włodzimierz Łajming, Józef Wilkoń, Maria Jasnoch-Wiatrowski, Błażej Ostoja-Lniski, Bożena Duda and Kazimiera Frymark-Błaszczyk. As part of the dissemination of the collection, we are carrying out a series of individual presentations of the artists who contribute to the Gallery.
