The next volume of the publication series of the Kashubian Institute Pro memoria prepared jointly with the H - E Museum in Chojnice and the K-P Writing and Music Museum in Wejherowo is devoted to the presentation of the profile of the founder of the Chojnice museum, Julian Rydzkowski (1891 - 1978) - an important personality of the Pomeranian culture of his time, a regionalist with a passion for museums, a great lover of Chojnice and the region. The book contains rich documentation of his life and activities, revealing Rydzkowski as a man - a legend of Chojnice, first and foremost a museologist, fascinated by the identity of his region, but also a columnist writer, an astute observer of social life, and a valued friend. A value of the book is the detailed source material, especially the illustrations. The last chapter, consisting of papers by current museum professionals, is the fruit of a seminar organised in the Chojnice museum in 2009, entitled Julian Rydzkowski in the light of his work, summarising a research project into the full oeuvre of the creator and first curator of the museum. The material for the publication was collected, compiled and provided with an introduction by Prof. Józef Borzyszkowski.
