Ostoja Lniscy. Between academia and folk art. A family double voice on Art.

Catalogue of the exhibition entitled Ostoja Lniscy. Between Academia and Folk Art. A family double voice on art, presents its contents, encouraging the public to become familiar with the interesting, atypical concept of its scenario. Prepared and published jointly by the H - E Museum in Chojnice and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, the colourful catalogue draws the viewer of the exhibition into closer acquaintance with the work of both artists - father and son - through articles by, among others: Lidia Białkowska (MH-E Chojnice) on the creative achievements of Włodzimierz Ostoja Lniski and Paulina Buźniak (Academy of Fine Arts Warsaw) on the personality of the artist and Professor Błażej Ostoja Lniski. The idea of the exhibition scenario outlined in the foreword, based on the parallel compositional arrangement of the presented works, is developed and, in a way, justified in more detail by Prof. Sławomir Marzec, art critic and theoretician at the Catholic University of Lublin, in an essay entitled Paradoxical time, or habitus versus hybris; ë nazôd. In it, the author analyses with conviction, in a more academic manner, the possibilities arising from the application of this method to show the complex relationship between the habitus of tradition and the hybris of freedom. This is an important, multi-faceted text - also in English. The contents of the catalogue are enriched by unique family photographs, as well as fragments of the two artists' workshop interiors, which somewhat unexpectedly reveal the closeness of their spiritual and cultural affinity.
